Ithough the Panthers came out on the losing end of 1e score they showed a lot of heart in Sunday’s game gainst one of the top teams in the league. Ifthe anthers continue to improve at this rate they may ery well end up surprising a lot of teams in the .UAA this year.

lopefully just because they may not win as many ames as in the years past the fan support won’t uffer. If anything the Panthers need the fan support jore this year than ever before. A good number of ins attended both games on the weekend and it would € great to see them continue to support the teams.

The women Basket Panthers opened their regular season on a different note as they took part in one of two regular season tournaments. One was held in Dalhousie and the other in UNB. The Panthers opened up against the Saint Mary’s Huskies, a team they defeated the week before in Dalhousie by 10 points.

Friday was to bea different story however as the Panthers could never get their offense untracked and found themselves ina defensive struggle. The Pan- thers a team that usually shoots the ball very well couldn’t buy one on Friday an it ended up costing them. The panthers trailed at the half 26-16.

The Panthers played better in the second half but still couldn’t mount any consistent offense, and ended up losing 43-35.

They met the lose of the UCCB - UNB game and it was the vastly improved UCCB team. The Capers who finished last in the league last year, only trailed UNB by two at the half in their first game.

The panthers are still a much better team than the Capers and they showed it winning easily 62-43. The Panthers next see home action a part ofa double header against the Acadia Axettes on Sunday, Dec at 1:00 pm
