Presided over by Lt. Col. L. T. Lowther. retiring president. the meeting heard Mrs. Harper Mac- Neill report that the membership during the past. year had increas- ed by 18i members. Present mem- bership is 406. composed of 244 individuals and 32 groups, com- pared with 225 members last year. Col. Lowthcr spoke in appreci- ation of the Government assist- ance rendered to music teachers for festival work. He pointed out that the lack of music teachers was still a big problem for many districts.

Mrs. Edwin Cook. elected to her fourth term of office as secretary. was presented with a cheque for her services after the meeting. The cheque was given by the members of last year's executive in appreciation of Mrs. Cook's un- tring work.

The Association decided that they would aid rural schools in the Province who are not receiv- ing financial assistance from the Department of Education. This percentage allotment will be given hr the study of music.

The Summerside School Board of Trustees sent a letter of appre- ciation for the work done by the Association. A vote of thanks was moved to last year's executive by Mrs. Preston Beck.

The Temperance Secretary, Mrs. L. Simmons. reported on the book prescribed for the teaching of temperance in the schools. It was decided to purchase several books on the subject of "Missions" avid have them on hand when the Auxiliary resumed work in Sep- tember. It was hoped too that individual members might buy and contribute to the Auxiliary some of the less expensive books. Miss Morson made a report on Christ- ian Stewardship.

The devotion-al period was iiii- .der the leadership of Mrs. llollis Hienkins and Mrs Norman Mc- Leod. and was opened with the hymn "The Morning Light is Breaking." Mrs. Jenkins road a story illustrative of the home life of Japanese Christian children. This was followed by the singing of ,the hymn "Jesus Shall Reign". Mrs. Mabaod took for her subject the seal of the United Church of Canada. and with the aid of a chart explained the derivation and historic meaning or the different symbols making up the seal. sev- eral hymns were suggested and sung. and the Mtmah Benediction brouht the meeting to I close.
