Although the word engineer may mean only me professicn to most peq31e, the fact of the matter is, within that profession there are as many as a dozen different sdadivisicns. 'Jhese careers range from highly mathem- atical fields such as Electrical Engineering to the more managenent oriented sdaject of Industrial Engineering. In a ccntinuing series of articles we will atten'pt to show specifically what ead1 type of Engineering ’ entails.

Civil Engineering traditimally represents the bulk of all Engineering graduates. Certainly a large ' majority of the working engineers on P.E.I. ’ belong to the. Canadian Civil Engineering Institute. (All four of our profs. are Civil.) . 4 Basically Civil Engineers are, in the truest sense of the word, builders. Civil Engineers are responsible for design and caistructicn of buildings, bridges, highways and airports, ammq many other projects.
