-- POLICE COURT-There was a large docket at the Srmmerside Police court on Monday morning before Magistrate strong. Twelve drunks had been arrest/ed over the week-end. The Bureau report makes com- parisons between surveys conduct- ed in 1925 and 1939 and finds "a remarkable increase“ in the stutur. and weight of children during tli 16 years.

“It is found that the excess height of children in 1939 over i923 amounts to from one to two inches between the ages of seven and 13," said the report.

"A flve-yienr-old boy in i030 was B of an inch Inllez" on the average than a boy of the same age in 1923. while a five-year old girl is one- hslf inch taller.

"This variation increases steadily with age up to e point where a 14-year old boy of today is as tnll as a 15-year old in 1923 and a 13- year old girl today is only about one-half inch shorter than s. 15- year old girl In 1923.

The report was prepared by the Bureau in co-operation with the Toronto hospital ior sick children and the Toronto department oi health. The survey covered child-

The report said Canadian school children are considerably taller and heavier than average English and Scottish children, and slightly tall- er and heavier than American children.
