JAMES ATKINS

In the quiet of the early morn- ning on September 15, 1965 in the Charlottetown Hospital the soul of James Atkins went forth to meet its Creator.

The late Mr. Atkins was born in Mount Stewart December 2, 1886, the son of Thomas Atkins and Christine MacKenzie, the youngest of six children. He had 7a -varied——and— interesting— life, having worked and resided in several of the provinces as in the United States. He was well regarded in the business and. commercial spectrum of the Is land. D. WALLACE MacKAY Friends and relatives were saddened to hear of the death of D. Wallace MacKay on Tues- day, October 5, 1965 at his home in Stanley Bridge, after a short illness of two days. , Born at Stanley Bridge, De- cember 31, 1873, he was the som of the late Captain Donald and Mrs. MacKay. He married the former Esther MacLean, Hea- therdale on November 6, 1901 and spent his whole life farming on the old homestead.

Known as Wallace to friends young and old he was a mat much respected in the commun- ity. His words were few but his friends were many.

Surviving Mr. MacKay are his wife, Esther, two sons, Craw- ford, Stanley Bridge; Elmore, Parkdale; two daughters Flor ence, Brighton Mass. and Elea. nor, Mrs. Earl Ebers of Con- necticut and New York City. One child died in infancy. Also sur viving are a sister, Alberta, Newtown Center, Mass., seven grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.

The funeral! was held on Thursday, October 7, 1965. A short service was held at his home, then to St. John’s Presby- terian Church, New. London where the service was conduct- ed by Rev. Leslie Files, assist- ed by Rev. D. A. Campbell, Charlottetown, and__Rev. W.A. Patterson of Margate United Church. Mr. Files preached on Prov. 20:27: ‘‘The spirit of Man is the Candle of the Lord” while the assisting ministers led in prayer and read the scripture respectively. Interment was in the New London Cemetery. Pallbearers were: H.S. Mac Ewen, Montgomery MacEwen, Frank Bell, Rupert Simpson, Rex Kielly and Lemuel MacKay, Flower bearers were: Archi- bald MacEwen, Daniel Mace- Leod, Fred MacEwen, Kenneth MaicKay and Wilfred Cann.
