Waterworks Arbitration.
Tue arbitrators have made their award in favor of Daniel Miller, owner of the 3h acres expropriated by the Water Commis- sioners for pumping engine, etc., for $3,500. The arbitrators were Peter Sinclair, L. C. Owen and Wm. Miller.
An award was also made in favor of Richarc Burke, tenant in possession of the same property, for $110. Mr. Burkes lease had three years to run before the €Xpiration of the term. ‘The arbitrators im this case were Peter Sinclair, and Robert Stewart. The latter refused to sign the above award.

The Crops and the Outlook, Toronto, Aug. 6.
Supplementary crop reports received to- night from all parts of the Province of On- tario show that all the crops, with the ex- ception of spring and fall wheat and hay, will be above the average in yield and qual- ity. Previous reports stated that the out- look was bad, owing to the general drought which prevailed, but since then rain has fallen everywhere, and instead of a scarcity there is likely to be an abundance of every- thing.

Balfour delivered an address before 3,000 people at Ambridge to day. He declared that the Irish controversy conducted by calumny instead of argument. He had been told that the Parnell commission had been appointed to crush the Government's political opponents. He asked how this could be done if the accused were innocent.

Immigration.
Toronto, Aug. 6.
The returns of the Ontario Immigration Department show that for the six months ending June 30th, 54,319 immigrants ar- rived in and passed through the Province. Of these 40,455 passed through to the United States, 87 went to the Province of Quebec, 1,031 to Manitoba, and 1,274 re- mained in Ontario.
Fever in Montreal.
Montreal, Aug. 6.
An outbreak of typhoid fever has occurred amongst the inmates of the Carmelite Con- vent, Hochelaga. All postulants (those who have not yet taken the habit) were sent to their parents. One of the nuns has since died and four others have been pros- trated.
