The division on the Manitoba disallow ance question had been looked forward to as the most important in the session except the fishery question. The subject has been persistently discussed since the beginning of the session. The majority was 48,name- ly 65 against 113,
Mr. Trywhitt who floored the Hciee after the question was read, lost his vote, the majority was therefore fifty. All the members present voted against the resolu- tion, and one; British Columbia member voted for the motion. The Government was supported by all Quebec Independents,
and had a majority of thirteen from that Province. Only three New Brunswick members, Messrs. Wel-
don, Ellis and Gilmor voted with the Op-

The procession and demonstration to O’Brien and Kilbride to-night was a great success. The streets along the route were literally jammed with spectators, all eager to get aglimpse of the visitors. As _ the procession moved along cheers were given for O'Brien ami Parnell. As O’Brien and Kilbride appeared on the baleony at the
Lawrence Hall cheers continued for some time from 10,000 throats. President Cloran of the League said
that he was sure they would give O’Brien an enthusiastic reception, and thus show that they protested against such revilers as Goldwin,Smith and Rev. Dr. Potts who were the prime instigators of the bloody scenes that were enacted in Toronto and Kingston. O’Brien in coming forward was received with terrific cheers. He said he was proud to find French-Canadians and I[rish- Canadians under one flag. If Lord Lans- downe were here to-night he would find that his troubles were not over but only beginning. If he would pass through the street he would find a spirit which would hasten him to his end. He referred to the Orangemen of Ontario amid groans from the crowd.
