THe special correspondent of the New York Journal of Commerce, writing from Chicago, says:—‘‘Very little progress so far has been made with the harvest of the early winter wheat, and the genera! harvest of this crop is now looked for within about fourteen days. The reports of cheat in wheat in Illinois and Missouri still continue to be received, and the general sutlook of the crop in southern iilinois has run down quite a number of points since my last despatch. Western Missouri is also similarly situated. This is about the only poor spot upon the whole area of the winter wheat belt. Kansas wheat is nearly ready to cut, and no dam- age of any kind, except that of a local nature, has so far been reported upon this crop. Llook also for an uneven crop in southern CGhio and Indiana, but on the whole a better crop than in 1883,
