Continuing on with the series "You and your Persoruility" ripen- sored by the Y. M. C. A. so-Ed group. Dr. John C. Therlauit. of the Division of Mental Health. presented lo the group a talk on "Anxiety and its Defences.” Al- though he felt the magazines have popularized Psychiatry and made the public award of its importance. nevertheless. this had many drawbacks especially in confusing the public as to a "frame or refer- ence.”

"If anxiety aould be controlled by biological or social means fundamental alterations in the or- ganization oi our civilization would ensue and the probability of in- dividual happiness would be greatly enhanced. Yet although it is widely rccognlzcd that anx- iety is the most pervoaive psycholo- gical phenomenon of our time and that it is the chief symptom in the neuroses and the functional psychoses there has been little or no agreement on its definition." Word has been received here oi the death in Vancouver, 3. C., oi Mr. A. J. Mccormack, 82, of Ed- monton, Alta.. who was born in Monticello. The late Mr. McCor- mack went. out West when he was 25 years old.sel.tliiig first in Leth- brldgo and later going to Battle- ford, sask. In 1925 ha.moved to Edmonton where he became sec- retary treasurer of the Coal Val- ley Mine. a position he held until his retirement in 1945.

He was an honorary life mem- ber oi the Edmonton ,Council, Knights of Columbus, the North- ern Albertzi Pioneers and the Old Timers Association. In addition he took an active part in the Canadian Club and the Maritim- ers Association as well as having been a former president oi the Edmonton Highland Games Asso- ciation. Ilie was also a member oi the executive council of the Canadian Catholic Historical Aa- sociatlon and oi the Alberta Pro- vincial Liberal Association. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. J. J.
