A little over a hundred years ago—that is to say, in the year 1788—the then reign- ing Sultan of Morocco took as his wife a red-haired and blue eyed Irish girl, the young widow of a sergeant of engineers who had died in Morocco This Celtic lady seems to have left a famous record behind her.
