DIES IN BRITISH COLUMBIA- Ceptaln David Bertram, 92, a native oi Prince Edward Island, died recent- ly at Keiowne, B. C. When, most men are thinking about retiring, Cep- taln Bertram decided to emigrate to the west, and he left Prince Edward island to take up ranching in Sask- atchewan. I-le stayed there from 1892 until 1905, when he moved to Kelowns. He served inthe 82nd Regiment and took pert in the Northwest Rebellion. He is survived by five‘ daughters and ‘two sons, all living in the west.

THE P. B. I. MINISTERIAL AS- SOCIATION met in its monthly ses- sion in the Parish Hall of St. Paul's Church, Tuesday, March 11th, at 10.30 o'clock. The President, Rev. H. R. Grant, was in the chair. Rev. H. W. Johnson of Milton, led the de- votimisl period. I-Ie gave a lenten message. The minutes having been reedmnd adopted, the association proceeded at once to the report of the committee on the conducting oi funerals. This committee recom- mended that the association do all in its power to encourage the peo- ple _to use the church buildings for funeraLs rather than their own hous- es. _1t also recommended that the association adopt a. uniform ritual for the funeral service. It was also thought, advisable that the clergy ‘do ill that was in their power to dis- courage Sunday funerals. At 13.15 oblock dinner was served in the Hall of Trinity Church. After dinner little-details were attended to and the association adjourned.

—DEA’I'II 0F MB. SYLYAN RICH- ARDS 0F MONT CARMEL-There passed away on Sunday in the Prince County Hospital Mr. Sylvan Rich- ards of Mont Carmel at the age oi 68 years. Mr. Richards had not been well for some time and entered the Prince County Hospital ‘about ten days ago. 0n Saturday an operation wu- performed from which Mr. Richards did not rally. The deceas- ed wls a native oi Mont Carmel, e sen of the late Mr. and Mrs. le- mang Richards and was well and fevoreblykrlown in the district and will be sincerely mourned by a. large circle of irimds. His wife predeeloes- ed .him about five months ago. There were no children from the marriage. The following brothers and sisters are left to mourn, namely: Charles L. and Peter of Mont’ Carmel: Joe- eph L. of at. John, n. a. and John L. of Monetnn, N. B; Mrs. Narcise Gallant. . —ISLANDER DIES lN WINNIPEG —'i‘here passed away at the Grape Hospital, Winnipeg. Manitoba. on January 8th, 1930, Allan H. MacNeill son oi the late William c. and Mrs, MacNeili, Cavendish, P. E. I. He was born at Cavendish on April 24th. 18- 65. where he spent his boyhood, later mwuls to Sarina valley. and Mal- peque, where he farmed for a num- ber of years. 1n 191'! he moved with his family to Winnipeg where he re- sided till the time of his death. 1'01‘ the past few years he had not been in good health and the end came peacefully on the above date. He leaves to mow-n his wife, formerly Miss Jane Adams, New London, two daughters. and one son and several grand children, two brothers, Mal- colm and Hamilton Meehhill on the old homestead in Cavendish. Two sisters, Mrs. James S. Bentley, Ken- slngton, and Itfrs. George H._ Robert- son, fviayfield, to all of whom sin- cerest sympathy will be extended in their sad bereavement.

The death occurred very suddenly Monday morning at Fern Gardens Mount Edward Road, -of Howard Crocker, who has been employed for the past two years with Mr. Arthur H. Roper, proprietor of the Gardens.

Mr. Crocker had been suffering from a cold for some time but his condition wias mt considered ser- ious. ’

He was up Monday about seven o'clock and complained of foeling somewhat chilly but othervrlse seem- ed to be alright.

When he offered to assist in feed- ilig the foxes Mr. Roper told him he had better not go to the ranch, and accordingly the former left alone. On returning to the house Mr. Roper was shocked to fmd Mr. Crooker had passed away from heart failure, his body being found leaning against one of the buildings.

The deceased who was between sixty and seventy years oi age had been employed with Mr. Halsey Hooper and at the Morell Hotel, Charlottetown before going to Fern Gardens. Previous to that time he had served as cook on board sailing vessels. He belonged to Nova Scotla and has a brother at Freeport. in that province. The funeral will be held as soon as word has been heard from the latter. The body has been taken to MacLean‘s Undertaking Parlors.

MILLIGAN-DUNPIIY NUPTIALS —St. Mary's Church, Millta, Mani- toba, was the scene oi a very pretty wedding Wednesday, January 1st. when Mr. Bally Dunphy, formerly of Kenslngton, P. E. 1., and Miss Ella Miliigan, of Pipestone, Mani- toba, were united in the holy bonds of matrimony by the Rev. Father Holloway oi Souris. Manitoba, who celebrated the nuptial mass. The bride was attended as bridesmaid by Miss Rose Donalioe and the groom was ably supported by Mr. Joseph Donahue as g-oomsman. The formal opening of the third seasion of the 41st General Assemb- ly o1 Prince Edward Island took place yesterday accompanied by the usual ceremonial arid: colorful military dis- play. Tile function was performed by His Honour Lieutenant Governor Hearts , who was attended by a mounted travelling escort oi fourt- een troopers from the Prince Edward Island Light Horse in command of Lieut. E. W. Johnson of long River and Lieut. J. Morris of this city. The escort was in four sections. Two outriders preceded the first car- riage and the same the second. Two officers rode on either side of the third carriage immediately followed by six irlriikrs and the latter at a cllstanize of thirty feet by two rear riders..‘I'ile troopers as usual carried lances.

The Guard of Honor comprising one hundred men was supplied by A Company oi the Prince Edward Is- land Highlanders. The Guard was in command oi Maior T. B. Rogers with Lieut. C. Campbell and Lieut. W. Held. The Guard was accompan- ied by the Canadian legion Band which played suitable selections for the occasion.

HALIFAX WEDDING-The mar- riage took place in Saint Mary's cathedral, Halifax, of Miss Lily Per- ry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Perry, Charlottetown, to Ambrose Atkins, linotype operator of the Halifax Herald and formerly of Charlottetown on Monday morning. the ceremony being performed by Rev. Father Stone. The bride wore a. navy blue georgette dress with hat and shoes to match and carried a bouquet of orchids end lilies of the valley. The attendants were Miss Nora. Burke and Robert Creighton. The bridesmaid also wore blue georgette and an egg shell hat. The groom's gift tot the bridesmaid was a sapphire pendant and to the g. msman a. set of-gold cuff links. The wedding breakfast was served at the Carleton Hotel. In the evening Miss N. C. Brown, 5i South Park street. entertained in honor of the bride and groom. The‘ rooms were decorated with daffodils and ferns and the presents received were num- crous and beautiful and included silverware and linen. Buntain. naval aide, and His Homer's Private Secretary. Capt. P. S. Fielding.

These carriages proceeded by way of Grafton to Queen and along Richmond to the Building. A salute of fifteen guns was fired from the Park Roadway by a detacluneilt from

Woodside of Sum- merside, when their daughter, Miss Doris, was united in marriage to Mr. John Ernest Morrison, son of the late Mr. D. R. Morrison of Summer- side. The marriage ceremony was performed under a beautiful pink and white arch. The living_ room was also decorated with lovely pink and white carnations and ferns. Rev. W. H. Harding was the officiating cler- gyman. The bride, who looked» charming in a lovely gown of orchid corguette with hat to match and carried a bouquet of pink carnations. was given in marriage by her father. The bride and groom were unattend- ed. Miss Mildred Woodside, sister of the bride, played the Wedding March. After the ceremony a buffet lunch was served to the immediate relatives and friends who were pres- ent at the wedding, after which the happy youngcouple left for a short honeymoon trip to the Mainland.
