At halt-past twelve, our guns, Which had been delayed by the difficulty of passing the irrigation channels, came into action, and in a quar- ter of an heur the mutineers abandoned their guns and disappeared. The cavalry immediately took possession of the guns, when a smarf fire was epened on jhem bya number of infantry who were concealed among the rocks and in the cultivated ground below. These were soon dislodged, except a few Ghazis, who held a wall for some time, and the whole force of mutin- eers were seen flying in every direction, and abandoning the baggage. The cavalry pursued them for a shert distance, but were soon recalled, owing to the necessity of taking measures to bring back the cap- tured guns to the camp, which was suc- cessfully done. ‘The mutineers’ loss was about 50 killed, of whom 46 were buried. Our loss was four men of the 66th Regi- ment wounded. The mutingers are said to be completely dispersed and, disheartened, only a small portion of the regiment which first mutined- going off towards Herat. The reraainder fled in twos and threes te their homes.

Canadian Ministers in London.

The London Jimes of July 20 announces the arrival at Liverpool, on the previous day, of Sir John A. Macdonald, Col. Den- nis, Deputy Minister of the Interior, Sir Charles Tupper and the Hen. John Henry Pope. They were met by Sir A. T. Galt on arrival, and then the whole party pre- ceeded to the Westminster Palace Hotel, London, which is to be their address for several weeks. The Times says:—It is understood that the chief object of the visit of these efticial representatives of the Canadian Gevernment is to arrange the finances in connection with the completion of the Pacific Railway.

‘‘A” and “B” Troops, Canadian Hussars, furnished the escert. Pritice Leo- peld, having arrived frem Cape St. lenace by special Intercolonial train, on Fricay niyht, preceeded at once per ‘‘Arctic’’ to the ‘‘Polynesian,” which lay at the Allan wharf, on the Quebec side, and remained all night. The departure of the steamer was witnessed by a large nuwnber.

Henry Wentworth Monk, of Montreal, claims that he is able to demonstrate that world-life exists as certainly as animal and vegetable life, and that living werlds in- dividualize and lecalize Ged as living men individualize and localize man ; that the creative mind exists personally in intimate associatien with every living world as does the human mind with every. living man; that this truth reveals to us not only the precise nature and character ef the Creator, but also the precise nature and character of the future life of the whole human family. As Mr. Monk expects to leave fur England next week, he new challenges any man this side of the Atlantic to disprove his assertion befere an audience that the people may have opportunity to hear what may be said an both sides of the question.

The American Fishermen, it is said, have the purse seine in active use in the Gulf, not- withstanding the Dominion Statute. A cor- respondent of the St. John ‘‘Sun,” gives the following account of the wanton destruction of fish bA the Americans. He says: ‘‘The mackerel in our Gulf are still abundant. Our cousins, the American fishermen are busily engaged with that all. destroying machine called the purse-seine. It is outrageous to know that our fish are hauled together in hundred s of barrels,then scooped into dories, thence culled ; all fat No. 1s taken and clean- ed, the rest, a general mixture of all kinds of fish, thrown everboard—ali dead, of course, Is this throwing debris of this kind inte the waters, polluting the Fishiug grourds, to be allowed, then these acts are against the law of our Dominion ? How is it there 1s net a proper vessel to look after our interests? In a few years our fisheries in the Gulf will be just like our cousins’. They ‘purse seined” theirs, and they will; before the treaty expires ‘‘ purse seine” ours.

The Grand Trunk authorities at Men- treal have secured crop reports from 14!) places along their line. They show that fall wheat has been partly winter-killed in soine sections between Montreal and Port : but from Teronto te Sarnia it i rood, promising a yield of 25 up to 40 per acre. Spring wheat in many aces is badly injured by rust, and all yeavance will fall censiderably below an average. Peas and corn generally are looking well and give promise of a large ield. Barley and oats are pregressing
