Interesting to Tracnuers.—We find the following in the Winnipeg Times of a few days ago ~The Rev. W. C. Pinkham will be glad to have any teachers who hold certifi eates from any other province in the Domio- jon call on him at the Education offices, as there are vacancies in some of the schools in south-west Manitoba.

Tas Patestixxk Arans.—The Palestine Arabs illustrated various manners and cus- toms of the East lext evening in an interesting and often amusiny manner, and Prof, Rose- dale gave much valuable information. The sword dance is a most wonderful feat of arms There seemed to ve a dozen bright blades around the swerdsiaan’s bead instead of one. The ‘‘dance" wae encored enthusiastically. Jonx Dun, who acted as a sort of Prime Minister to King C-tewayo, demands either the occupation by the British of the intervening territory between /ululand and the Transvaal, or the return of arms to his people, or a guar- anteee in form of |ritish protection against a Boer invasion. Sir Evelyn Wood is known to sympathise thorougbly with Dunn’s views. Dunn believes tha’ Boer invasion of Zululand is certain it the country be given back to the Boers. He believes the Boer leaders to be earnest in their wish for peace, but the Boers themselves are not controlled by their leaders

Vewxnor publishes his predictions for July. He says it will give a great deal of rain over a large portion ef the United States and Can ada, while in Great Britain the weather will in all probability »e likewise stormy and wet. The storms of wind, thunder and lightning are likely to be heavy and frequent between the 10th and 15th. An exceedingly hot term is likely to be expe rienced in both the United States and Canada within a few days from the close of the month. Probably about the 27th or 28th a cool wave will occur, carrying frests in Canada snd cool weather generally with storms of wind and rain throughout the United States.

Dominion Exhibition Notes.

_ The special attention of the agricultural- ists and mechanics of this Provinee is ¢éi- rected to the advertisement of the Advisory Board, appointed by our Local Government to make arrangements for securing the best possible representation of our Island indus- tries at the General Dominion Exhibition, to be held at Halifax, Nova Scotia, next September.

The Advisory Board, as will be seen by their advertisement, offer every facility to intending exhibitors from this Province, and we trust that no effort will be wanting

The Supreme Court closed on Saturday last. The jury in the case of McLeod vs Gillis found a verdict for the plaintiff. The, next case was James Beales vs Allan R

GREAT BRITAIN AND IRELAND.

The British barque Try, from Cardiff for St. Stephen, N. B., was abandoned on the 14th in tom ~The crew were rescued by the Steamer ic Monarch, from New York for this port. The Celtic Monarch damaged her propeller in rendering assistance to the crew of the barque and was taken in tow on the 16th by the steamer St. Bernard and breught to Queenstown to-day.

The “'imes says: In April, 1879, the Heuley stewards decided that the entry of avy foreign crew must be made on or before lst of March, and that each member of the crew must be certified by the British Consul, or chief autho- rity, of the locality from which he comes to be a bena fide amateur. ‘This law was published and commented upon in the English and New York sporting papers, so it is impossible for anybody to pl ignorance of its existence. We believe no objection has been made by competitors to the Cornell crew for the Ste. ward's cup, bat we understand that ciubs engaged will summon the stewards to insist upon the production of the necessary certifi. cates of qualifications of the Cernell men as amateurs, and that such certificates shall be duly lodged with the stewards, even if the latter choose to ereate an incenvenient pre- cedent by breaking through their invariable practice of refusing past entries.
