Student—in-Industry program.

This program, (which has operated over the-past ten years, offers incentive to Island businesses to hirestu;

helps the department match the best qualified student to the job description submitted by the employing company.

Last year there were 26 applications and 17 Island firms suCcessfully partici— pated in the program.

In all, a total of 19 students were employed with two cases

Besides giving the hiring companies a financial break in wageslpaid, the program is an inexpensive and inno- vative job creation method aimed primarily at the age group with the highest unem— ployment rate. ‘

The program is co-ordinated through the University of Prince Edward Island’s
