route of the procession covered about eight miles, and will terminate at the exhibition building, where one thousand tiremen will dine. Thousands of visitors are constantly arriving by exeur- sion trains.

Bextrasr, Aug. 10.
This city, owing to the wreck and ruin of many of its houses, presents a deplorable aspect similar to that of Paris after the reign of the commune.
It is feared that numerous deaths, result- ing from the riots, have taken place which will never be reported or heard of. The hospitals are taxed to their utmost to ac- commodate the wounded in need of prompt medical attendance.
A painful feature of the riots is the num- ber of children wounded on Sunday. One boy was shot whilst returning from Sunday school. Yesterday a little gir] was shot on the streets and is thought‘to be fatally wounded. '
Train loads of troops are constantly ar- riving. The military, early yesterday morning, dispersed several mobs at the point of the bayonet. The prospect of af- fairs was so threatening at noon yesterday that the authorities ordered all taverns in the city to be closed. Last evening groups of men were assembled everywhere excited- ly discussing the situation.
The heaviest fighting was done at Spring- field, from which place a regular guerilla battle is reported, in which sixty of the rioters were shot down dead.

In the 3 mile scull race at Nantasket yesterday, between Hanlan, Mackay, Ten Eyck and Hosmer, Hanlan won; Mac- kay second, Een Eyck third, and Hosmer fourth. Hosmer met with an accident to his shell. The time of the race was 21 minutes 5 seconds.

A cablegram received here announces that the Canadian Artillery Team have again won first prize in the 64 pounder gun shooting competition, beating 92 teams and winning Sir Richard Wallace’s prize of nine silver cups and £42 in money.
