By nature people have to chit chat. At UPEI this need has become a priority. It has been made so by a new and soon to be introduced program.
This is a program aimed at»promoting student- faculty relations on campus. It is being sponsored by the UPEI Student Union and the Dept. of Student Services. The President of the :Student Union, Kevin Walker, hopes that a greater number of university personnel (faculty, staff and ' administration) will make use of the Barn facilities because of the program.
CHIT--CHAT is a pretty simple but very descriptive title. Cards known as chits are to be distributed. For every one that is presented in the Barn, it is anticipated that a lot of chatter will follow. The chit is redeemable for coffee, tea or soft drinks for two people provided that a few simple‘ rules are followed. The chit is valid only in the Barn and only if two people present themselves at the same time. It is not valid for two students or two faculty or two staff members. The idea is
to mix the various groupings so that students and university perSonnel spend a few minutes together. In other words, one of the two must be a full time student attending UPEI.
The chit is to be completed with the persons' names and left at the canteen in the Barn. Late in the semester, a lucky draw will take place. The prize will be dinner for four at the Cascade. The names appearing on the chit, along with their escorts, will be the recipients of the dinner, compliments of the Student Union and the Department of Student Services.
Members of the Department of Student Services and the Student Council will not be eligible for the lucky draw.\ ' "

The first Council meeting for 1979—80 was held on Friday afternoon, Sept. 21.

Due to the poor turnout of nominees for the 5.0. electicru the nomination date has been held over to Sept. 28. It.was felt that by extending the date we could ensure the best people fbr the positions. The election is to be held on October 5, 1979.
A sunnary of summer operations was preSented to Council and it showed that having events in the Barn in the sunner is definitely a profitabLe venture.
