Move over Haywire and Scream. ing Trees, you have some new competition. This new Halifax- based band rose out of the ashes of The Fanatics and Working Class. I didn’t get around to in- terviewing the band so that’s about all the background infor- mation I can give you. Ah well, enough of the past and on with the present.

These guys have the most in- credible sound mix I have heard since Haywire’s last gig here at the University, The light show beats any I have seen at the Barn in- cluding the Spoons. Okay, Okay the dry ice was a little tacky, but you have to admit, it made for a nice effect if not-such a particular- ly good order. The lights were not large in numbers but their posi- tioning and sequencing were very effective. '

What about the music? Well what about the music. Words like ‘tight’, ‘great’, and ‘somewhat better than that Guy Lombardo festival’, are overused and don’t seem to capture the essence of it.

In fact, it was terrific. There was a good mix of oldies and the latest blasts from your clock- radio. The vocalist seems to have a fixation on Mick Jagger but

that’s OK because he does a damn good impression of him during the Stones and solo Jagger numbers. They even manage to sneak in an old Blue Oyster Cult tune and got away with it!

I suppose one of the great things about this band is their refreshing use of showmanship.

Let’s face it: you don’t shell out ~

four bucks just to hear a carbon copies of your favorite tunes. You can get that at a club. You come to see a band perform. Drama does just that. On-stage antics and a good rapport with the audience made for an entertaining evening.

I can’t, however, say that the

band was totally flawless. They butchered “Bang A Gong” and made a rather corny speech during a waltz, On top of that, their originals were somewhat less than average. I wouldn’t advise picking up an EP that they might put out until their songwriting ability improves.

Otherwise, I was impressed. Drama is an excellent band that I will make an effort to see again. Thope the Barn takes the hint and hires Drama again soon.

The only other Kloset Queen contestant that ever came close to grabbing the reins was Miss Christeen Christeen.

Although she (he) seemed very shy when first introduced, she(he) lost all her inhibitions and pro- ceeded to give a semi-good strip- tease and three different hair colors to choose from. Like those life savers .... almost.
