vf the “Devil’s Auction” Company at the

and applause are ‘o be taken as an indice- tion of the pleasure they experienced their cup ot juy must have been full to over- flowing. The “Devil’s Auction”,it may be explained, is an extravaganza founded upon the ideas which make up the aver- age fairy tale. In the cast there are the evil ove, the good fairies, the maidens in dis- tress and the wicked peuple who en deavor to make use of the evil epirtt to further their own ends. In the presenia- tion of the plsy there is placed before the audience a spectacular production of ever=varying yorgeousness sachasis rarely seea out- side the large cities. Everythimg that mechanical skill can do tosurprise the imagination and please the eye ie done, and the costumes worn by the performers are of therichest description. Aart from the brilliant scenic effects the prizcipai fea- ture of the show is the dancing of tne ladies of the ballet s besides which there is some very clever aerial performances and trick bicycle riding Miss Allen, who has a leading part in the play, possesses a contralto voice of rare power, and her solos were a decidedly vieasiug feature of the performance. Mr. Ben Grinnell, the leading comedian, is also very clever, and created lots of fun. The company give performances tonizht and tomorrow night, and they will doubtless heve large audiences.

Tue Diverce Covrr.—In the divorce court at Boson recently, aceording to a corresoondent of the St. Jobn Sun, Mrs. i \iza Driscoll, who was married at St. Margaret’s twelve years ago, was granted a divorce from Sydney Driscoll on the grounds of degertion. In the case of Hannah McKay, who petitioned for divorce on the ground of desertion, decision was reserved. The petitioner was married to John McKay at Charlottetown, in 1894.
