U.P.E.I. ATHLETES OF ‘THE WEEK

PATRICIA LUND _is

U.P.E.I.‘s female athlete of the week for the week ending October 9. Patricia, a member of the field hookey team, played outstanding defense on the weekend in two close losses to the top team in our league, U.N.B. She also made a number of goal line stops on balls that got behind the goalie. Patricia is from Charlottetown and is in her freshmen year of a science degree.

JEAN—FRANCOIS PAINCHAUD is the male athlete of the week at U.P.E.I. J.F., a member of the fifth ranked soccer squad, played goal on the weekend recording two shutouts versus the second ranked U.N.B. Red Shirts. J.F. made a number of key stops Saturday to allow the Panthers to beat U.N.B. after a late goal on a penalty kick: He also played solidly Sunday as the Panthers won convincingly, 2-0. J.F.‘s home town is Montreal, P.Q. ‘ and he is studying in his third year of a business degree.
