Qquiied fires are raging east, west and uurth of Calais, Me. Timber lands on Little Musquash, Big Lake, Beddington road and in the rear of Squirrel Point are burning fiercely and the fire is spreading rapidly. Calais is surrounded by dense cloulds of smoke.

Tue CuHo_ersa.—A despatch announces that Toulon, France, is in a panic over the appear- ance there of what appears to be Asiatic Cholera. It was reported on Monday that “wenty deaths had occurred. Those attacked were chiedy troops and dock laborers. By w ay o quieting down the panic, the Ministry of Commerce has issued a uotice to the effect that the cholera at Toulon is sporadic, and not Asiatiac; that it is due to local infection, and therefore confined to the place of its origin.

Juxe Frosts.—Reports from New England state that the heavy frost of Saturday night caused some damage to the crops, and that in Norfolk county, Mass., the vegetable crops Were seriously injured. There is, however, nothing very remarkable in the New England ‘rost as late as June 14. In 1882 frosts oc- carred in New England and New York on June 12, in New Hampshire on the 22nd and | in Vermont on the 30th, while on the 30th of last June frost was reported from South west- ern New York.
