Tae Scott Act cases were resumed at the Stipendiary Magistrate's Court this forenoon. An ar.ument arose regarding the legality of placing the defendant on the witness stand in these cases, A decision was not arrived at, and the cases of P. Connolly, P. C. Kelly, and J. Carroll, were postponed until Wednes- day next. Previous to adjournment J. Carroll was tined $50 for committing a breach of the Act on the 14th wit.

Their dress was gay and comical, their caravan drawn by four grey horses, was grotesquely decked with bunting, and their acting throughout was ludicrous. hey passed through nearly every street in the city, and were well received on the route, . Orangemen vs. Nationalists,

Dromore, Ireland, Jan. 1.

The Orange meeting was held in a field close to Dromore. About 20,000 persons were present. Col. Stewart Knox pre- sided.

The Nationalist meeting was held in a field at the opposite end of the town. The rival parties were kept apart by large bodies of cavalry, infantry and police. Even this force was hardly able to prevent a collision. The Nationalist meeting was attended by about 2,000 (?) persons. In the evening several attempts were made by Nationalists to attack the Orange- men. After the close of the meetings, despite the efforts of the authorities, a serious fight was waged between the two Several shots were fired and

the Nationalists were badly wounded; one Orangeman was bayonetted and is not ex- pected to live,

A Nihilistic Murder.

It is reported that Lieut.-Col. Sadeikin, of the police for’e, was enticed into the Ralkoff building, near the Moscow railway station, where he was killed by Nihilists, The marderers left a letter behind them, stating that their next victims would be Count Tolstoi, Minister of the. Interior, and General Gresser, Chief of the St. Petersburg police.
