A short time ago Mr Peter Campbell one of our oldest and mo-t res- pected citizens passed peacefully away in- tothe happiness which is aseured for all those who who serve God in this world as good and faithful Christiane. Hauirax. N.S., Jaly 6.—The Allen Line steamer Grecian is coming up the harbor with the ship Cromartyshire in tow.

On July 4th,in a fog, sixty miles off Sable Island, the chip collided with the French liner La Burgoyne, bound for New York.

The latter sank and six hundred were drowned. Two hundred were saved. One woman only was saved.

On his return from Earope bis fine musical repu~ tation secured for him a ready entrance to the stat: of his Almoa Mater, where, as aready stated, he has taught for seven | vears. The vocal position hax been filled by the appoiotment of Miss Maud Gul den, B. A. Miss Gokien carried on ber vocal studies in Boston while pursuicg her University course avd then went to Europe for further training.
