Area maps, count sheets, and field check—lists are available for each team. It would be helpful to visit your count area before December 18th to become familiar with it and get a preview of what species to expect and where.

Even if you cannot go out on the Bird Count, there are ways you may help: (1) In the count area during the Count Period (December 18 to January 1), all species that are unusual for this season should be reported. (2) If you live within the count circle and have a bird feeder, watch it on December 18th and record the maximum number of each species seen at any one time.

Co-ordinator of the count is John Wright, 892-4121, Ext. 173 (Math Department, U.P.E.I.) or 838—4781 (Box 283, Montague). When John is out of town, it may be easier to call Margaret Mallett, 894- 9595 (53 Fitzroy Street) about being assigned to a team. We need more people to act as counters. So call one of the above leaders or Margaret Mallett before mid-December.

On the evening of the Count Day, Diane and Kevin Griffin are inviting the counters to a pot-luck supper at their home in New Haven, on north side of the T.C. Highway about 200 yards west of the junction with Route 9 (name on mailbox). Each counter should bring some food, their count results and a friend. Come as soon as you can conveniently make it after dusk. The clothing you wore on the count is O.K. Would you jot down any interesting anecdote about your day in the field--— for the newsletter report?

FEES FOR THE CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT are $1.00 for each person participating. Each group leader will collect from his group and turn them in with the count results. The money goes toward various C.B. Count expenses and the publishing of "American Birds“---a book of about 650 pages containing reports of 1100 (or more) count areas.
