Auctioned off His God.

The proudest and happiest man in Mott street to-day is Mr. Ong Hong Tong, says a New York deapatch of the llth. He has be- come the sole possessor for the space of one year of a genuine Chinese god, to wit, Lone Wung Sha, and can pocket every cent of profit he can make out of the god for that period.

‘The god—or rather the privilege of using him for one year—was pat up at auction at the temple of Joas, 20 Mott street, Wednes- day morning. The competition was great and the bidding brisk. As an ‘‘event,” it double discounted the big Brayton Ives sale, The first bid was $2000 and the last $4600, at which price the god was knocked down to Mr. Ong Hong Tong.
