The various defects in the present Education Act and the amendments required to render itjult to the teacher and satisfactory in the country. were ably pointed out. The princi-

' pal questions of discussion were the uses and advantages of the Normal School in our edu- cational machinery. the necessiiy of a more ellicient system of school visiting. am] the in‘ crease of’l‘eachcrs' lalaries, with a gradation iu the scale of payment according to length of service. Alter these subjects had been .fully considered. a committee was appointed xto prepare a draft petition to be presented to the Legislature. setting forth the tcaclicrs' grievances anti suggesting the alterations they wished to he made in the laws relating to education.
