“Bill, the Whittler,” is now engaged onan automatic device, which when
completed will contain 232,608 distinct pieces and 1,100 movements. These movements willall be controlled by a| wheel to be propelled with sand, The| device will contain a complete model of the Strasburg cathedra], a complete model of the New York and West Shore Railway depot, at Buffalo, with all its employes at work ; Noah’s Ark, with all the animals and Mr. and Mrs. Noah on board ; a steamship rocking to and fro on the face of the mighty deep, a sand engine, and bridges, towers, ete. The device will be equipped with 82,000 pieces to be put in motion, and it will contain, 109,000 illuminaticns.
In every respect the Strasburg cathe- dral model willbe a faithful copy of the original. At regular intervals 200 children will pass out of the chapel and through the main aisle of the church to the altar, and the twelve apostles will appear at the proper times over the dial of the clock, which is to contain 100 illuminations. When the bells io the spire of the cathedral ring, a queen will appear before the cross. A_ full rigged brig, to be represented on the bosom of the ocean,making a voyage as already completed. It is composed of 1,800 different pieces and weighs only eight ounces. In the towers of the railway depot there will be four clocks. Noah’s Ark, which is complete, is 40 inches long with a nine-inch hold and a nine-inch beam, measuring 20 inches from keel to deck, and containing 3,400 pieces. This remarkable curiosity the famous whittler made in cight days with a penknife. When complete all the pieces of the automatic concern will oceupy a space 48 by 16 feet. The depot is to be nine feet eight inches and a half high and will occupy a spece of 14 by 11 feet.
As the figures pass toand fro, pan- oramiec views will move along behind the scroll-work near the base of the} depot. In making this automaton, Bilihas thus far whittled up 2,250 cigar bokes and 500 feet of lumber. The stationary engine connnected with the concern is finished, and it contains only one piece of iron,a crank shaft 18 inches long.

Be sure to mark your Liberal Conservative Candidate
‘The elector, on receiving the ballot- paper, shall forthwith proceed into one of the compartmente of the polling station, and there mark his ballot paper, making a eross with a pencil on any part of the ballot- paper within the division containing the name of the candidate for whom he intends to vote, and shall then fold up such ballot- paper, so that the initials on the back can be seen without opening it, and hand it to the Deputy Returning Officer, who shall, without unfolding it, ascertain, by examin- ing the initials, and the number upon the counterfoil, that it is the same he furnished to the eleetor, and shall first detach and destroy the counterfoil, and shall then im- mediately, and in the presence of the elec- tor, place the ballot-paper in the ballot- box. — Ballot Act, See 4d.
No voters should make any mark on the ballot-paper save one cross on any part of the ballot paper within the division con- taining the candidate’s name for whom he intends to vote. If the voter writes his name or initials, or any remarks, he makes his ballot useless.
A simple cross upon the ballot for your candidate will assist in electing him. Any other mark or writing will contribute to their defeat.
1. Poll opens at nine o’clock a. m., and closes at five o’clock p. m.
2. Vote early.
3. See that your Liberal Conservative neighbor votes early also.
4. If you havea vehicle, place it at the service of your Committee to bring tardy voters tothe polls. Give the information to the Secretary of Committee.
5. Do not ‘‘pair’ on polling day with your Grit neighbor. Poll your own vote and let him look out for his.
6. Poll every possible vote ; the loss or gain of asingle vote in each sub-division may make all the difference between victory and defeat.
7. If your returning officers and deputy returning officers are Grits watch them.
8 Each Liberal-Conservative should vote as though the result of the election de- pended upon his individual exertions.
9. Remember that any bribery, corrupt treating, hiring of vehicles, paying of voters’ expenses, or any undue influence, will not only void the election, but is pun- ishable by law.
10. Electors can only vote at one polling sub-division in the same electoral division, no matier in how many sub-divisions they may have votes.
1]. Any elector’s vote may be challenged who has received anything on account of his vote, or has been promised anything directly or indirectly, either to induce him to vote at the election or for loss of time, travelling expenses, hire of teams, or any other service connected therewith ; or even if the said elecetor has dirctly or indirectly paid or promised anything to any person, either to induce him to vote or to refrain from voting at the election.
13. An elector having more votes than one in the same electoral district should vote in that electoral sub-division in which he resides. Attention to this rule will facilitate the polling, and possibly contri- bute to the individual elector’s comfort.
