No speeches were made except by the mover of each resolution, the former of about thirty and the latter about fifteen minutes. The whole matter had been so thoroughly threshed out in the press during the past four years that it was decided to have no debate, thus avoiding what Dr. Carman described as ‘ta good deal of fire.” A majority of Maritime Province dele- gates voted for the amendment.

The University Federation question came up to-day aud was disposed of by a vote reafirming the decision of four years ago in favor of the union of Victoria with Toronto University. The yeas numbered 171 and the nays 76, the majority being much larger than before. The laymen of the New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island Con- ference were all absent when the vote was taken with the exceptioh of Dr. Inch, : who voted with the majority.
Another Big Strike

The conterence to-day adopted a proposal to call out immediately all shearers and carriers. The conference instructed the various strike committees to order all mem- bers of the labor union to prepare a general strike, and it is probable that all afflliated trades will be called out. This will effect 30,000 men,
An Untrue Report. Monrreat, Sept. 13.
There is great indignation here over the report sent toan American paper by an unscrupulous correspondent to the effect that Prince George had got into a fight with the police, and was arrested while in Montreal. The story, which isa bare-faced lie, appears in the Boston Herald.
