I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you back to U.P.E.I. and I hope that you all had a good summer. I would also like to express a special greeting to all the new students at U..P.E.Io this year. we had a record number of freshmen register-for orientation this year and it wasa smashing success. I extend thanks to all, the freshmen who participated and hope you learned a few things about U.P.E.I. To those new students who didn't participate in orientation, I urge you to becate involved in Student Union activities; we are your organization. I want to express my sincere thanks to a group of dedicated individuals who made orientation possible this yearo The Orientation Committee met weekly all summer and worked many long hours to put together the best orientation week that U.P.E.Io has ever seen. I worked full time for the Student Union this summer and it was indeed a busy one. On May 31, as I am sure most of you know, we had v afireintheBarn. Thedamagewas extensive in the Panther Lounge area where the fire started and the rest of the building recieved smoke and water damage. There were many tense moments during the reconstruction

floor has new walls, floors and paint. The downstairs has new floors and ceilings. The building looks very good and you are invited to come down and see it.

Another new addition to the Barn is our campus radio station, CIMN. It now occupies one-half of the entire third floor- If you

' «live on campus, it is located at

700 on your radio dial. If you live off campus, it will be going out on cable FM in approximately three weeks.; you will be able to receive it anywhere on P.E.I. if you have cable T.V. by hooking your TOV. cable to the FM antenna output on your radio. This is a major accomplishment for us and I hope you will listen to and support CM._ It is all new and it is yours. I would like to express the great appreciation of the U.P.E.I.S.U.

to John Bently and Gordon Johnston for the long hours they spent in putting it together for us. The music will be far better than it has in past years and CINN will also be broadcasting many away games of the U.P.E.Io Intercollegiate athletic teams.
