IN pursuance of the Act of the General As- sembly ofthis Island, made and passed in thp Seventh Year of the Reign of His late Majesty King William. the Fourth, intitulod flu Act or levying an. finessth on land: in this Island— do hereby publicly notify the Owners or Occupiers of Land within this Island, for which the annual Assessment, charged thereon by the raid recited Act, ofFour Shillings, lawful money ofthis Island, for every Hundred Acres of wilderness or unim- proved Lands contained in the several Townships, and the several Islands belonging thereto; and the sum of 'Two Shillings for every Hundred Acres of cultivated or improved Land in the said several Townships and Is- lands as aforesaid; and the sum of Four Shillings for each and every uncultivated or unimproved Town Lot, Pasture Lot, Common Lot and Water Lot, granted in the Town and Royalty of Charlottetown; and the sum of Two Shillings for each and ever cultivated or improved Town, Pasture, Common, and ater Lot as aforesaid ; and the sum of Two shillings and eight-pence for each and every Town Lot, Pasture Lot, and Water Lot,grant- ed in the Towns and R0. alties 0t Georgetown and Princetown ; and the sum 0 One shilling and four-pence for each and e ,ery cultivated or improved Town, Pas- ture, and \‘Vater Lot, granted in the said last-mentioned Towns and Royalties, and so in proportion for a less quantity ; and the sum of One penny per acre on each and every acre of cultivated or improved Land in the Royalt ofGeorgetown, called reserved Lands ; and the Jam 0 Two-pence per acre on each and every acre of such Lands as may be deemed uncultivated or unimpro- ved Land, is payable, that unless the Assessment for the ~current year be‘ paid into my hands, or the hands ofiny Deputies, on or before the Twenty-second of December, 1840, I shall, on the last da ' oftlie next Hilary Term, at ‘Charlottetown, make Proofamation of all such Lands a ~shall then be in armor for non-payment of the_ sums «charged thereon, .agreeabl to the directions of the said .Act. Perhaps, ori inquiry, they may find a Sheriff’s Deed Without a Sheriff—a Sale without an Appraisement, and one of the Executions (for there were two) an Equitv'of Redemption, which this extraordinary sale was intended to satisfy, of which there is no judgment on record; and the amount of sale was probably sufficient to liqui- datea dozen Executions, which appears to be a mani- fest contravention of the Act.
