A Bic Swixpie.—A widely-circalated ad vertisement is in the papers of the day offering a ‘‘Tyvolese Musical Box,” beautifully mad-, etc., to play six tunes, sent carriage paid for one dollar and five cents by Conrade, Baum & Co., box 84, St. John, N. B, A gentleman in this city has just received the article sent for his $1.05, and is slightly disappointed with his bargain. The article is a common little five ceut mouth organ, and any one who would undertake to play oné, much less six, tunes on it must be a pretty good musician. Sxven families of Danes arrived in St. John by the Jast American boat from the Western States, where they had gone to settle. Thre leader cf the party had visited New Den- mark, N. B., previously to going West, and he expresses the opinion that the West is not to be compared with New Bruswick for Danish settlers. The party propose to take up land from the New Branewick Land and Lumber Company, and they say that they will be followed by large pumbers of others who are dissatisfied with the West.

A Murder Club. Lonpon, April 25. The Sicilian police have discovered a/ remarkable murder club near Palermo, | consisting of fifty-nine members, who were | pledged to murder for common advantage and profit. The members undertook to execute private vengeance for hire. A branch club was established in Sicarlzzi, consisting of forty five members. Within a few months, the latter club alone, killed thirty persons. The members of both clubs have been imprisoned at Palermo, and will be tried immediately.

The Marquis of Salisbury and Sir Stafford Northcote, Conservative leaders, replying to resvlutions forwarded by tiie Edinburgh Conservatives, set forth, in strong terms, that the importance of appealing to the country was becoming urgent. They declare that the Government has lost the authority and influence absolutely necessary for the proper management of the House of Com- mons and foreign affairs.
