The motion was seconded by Robert Carran, Esq, of Baldwin’s, and carried
upanimously amid great enthusiasm,
Mr. Macdonald then took the platform, for their enthu« siastic vomination, and in a stirring speecn showed up the shortcomings of the Gov«~ ernment, their many broken pledges and their present support of measures which they so strenuously opposed when ia ope position. Mr. Macdonald’s remarks were well received and he resumed his seat amid rounds ot applause:
The President read a letter from Cyrus Shaw, Eeq., M. L. A., regretting that his health prevented his attendance and ex- pressing his loyalty tuwhatever course the party decided to adopt at the Conve.-~ tion.
Mr. Joba Dewar, of New Perth, then deliveredan eloquent speech and ended by moving the following resolution :
Whereas our grand old leader, Sir Charles Tupper,has by his untiring energy, prudence and sagacity cootributed much towards infusing @ spirit of enthusiasm into the ranks of the opposition,—
Resolved, therefore, that this conven- tiou take the opportunity of expressing its great admiration of his worth and abili- ties asa statesman as well as its high aps preciation of his valuable services as lead~ er, and trust that he maylong be spared to guide the destinies of the Liberal Con- eervative party.
This resolution was ably seconded in a rousing speech by J. G. Sterns, Eeq., Souris,and carried upanimously with three cheers and atiger for the great Liberal Conservative leader.
J. C. Underhay, Eq, moved the follow-~ ing reeolution which after a few appro- priate remarks was seconded by Mr. Sterns and carried :
Whereas, It has pleased Almighty God in His infinite wiedom to remove from amonget us a political leader who was always @ prominent aud welcome figure at our meetings, in the person of the late respected and lamented John P. Sullivan:
Resolved, tberefore, that we hereby record ap expression of the deep Joss we have sustained in the death of a wise eouncillor, an able organizer and a true, honest and noble man.
After capital speeches from John Mc- Lean, Souris, A W Bruce, Red Point; Jas H Dingwell, Morell; James Mclraac, Charlotietown, and other3,—Mr. Saville, of Annandale, took the floor, condemned the deception practiced upon the temper- ance people of Canada by the Govern- ment, commended Mr. A. C. McDonald’s action in Parliament denouncing the double dealing of the Goveroment on the plebiscite, and ended a wel! constructed and ably delivered speech by movirg °
Whereas, our present member, Mr. A.C. McDonald, bas merited the suppcri of the temperance party of King’s County by bis vote on tke probibition resolutions in the past session;
Resolved; that this"convention desires to express its satisfaction et his actin wad express its detire tor him to costinue 10 vote and speak in the same manner iv fature.
This resolution was seconded by Charles Clay, Eseq., put tothe meeting, and carried unanimously.
Mr. A. C. McDonald said that while never pledged on any question, be had felt it his duty to support the temperance peo- ple as expressed by their vote on the Plebiecite, and would continue to doso if elected.
After three cheers had been given for our much respected President, three cheers for Mesers. A. C. Macdonald and Jobn McLeen, the assembly arose and sang “God Save the Queen.”
Thus ended the most unanimous, enthusiastic and representative convention ever held in this Province, and tLose wks honored it with their presence left for their homes, feeling that their time lad been well spent and thatiheir prospecis were never brighter for the biggest victory they ever had in the country.

Scnooner Srranpep.—The schr Foam, owned by Captain Moran, of Charlottetown, is reported stranded at Sea Cow Head. The Foam was from Charlottetown to Point cu Chene. On Friday night, or early the following morning, while lying at anchor nearthe scene of the accident, a gale came up and she dragged her ancbor aod stranded. The Foam was in ballast gud was not insured.
St. Josepn’s Sopariry.—A wmeetiog of St Joseph’s Sodality was held in St. Josepb’s Convent last evening to welcome Mother St. Aagelina, who for many years was Superior of the Convent. Oa behalf of the society, the secretary, Miss L Coady, read an address of welcome.
The recipient thanked the society for the purse and address, and expressed her ma
pleasure at being among old friends. A very enjoyable ttme was spent, refresh- men's being served during the evening. A meeting of the society, for members ooplv,: will Ye beldon Friday, 13ih inst., at 7 o’clock sharp.
