Peace at Christmas— ere is

a fervent Christmas prayer: That you nndytour may find Comfort and joy in Christ, our Lord. ' Good health, and peace of mind! That is the message a former lieutenant . governor of Prince Edward Island, the Hon. J. A. Bernard. has sent out to his friends this Christmas in the Year of Our Lord. 1958.

His Worship Mayor Edwin C. and Mrs. Johnstone have s ent out a beautiful Christmas card with a view of the mayor and his wife seated in the garden at their home, Villa avenue. This lovely Island scene has all th e summertime colorings and shows the Johnstones in a charming and informal pose at home.

Mr. and Mrs. Ian G. Mac - Quarrie were guests at a recap- tion recently held in London by the.Dominions Fellowship Trust at which the Queen Mother was present.

Mrs. MacQuarrie writes in re- gard to this wonderful oppor - tunity to see the Queen Mother. "I thought she looked much nic- er than in her picbuies. She wore Royal blue with a fur stole and a blue and white feather hat. It was a very enjoyable reception given by the Grocers’ Company in the beautiful Grocers’ Guild- hall on Princes street.

It was announced at the recep- tion that Miss Macdonald of Sleat, who has been associated with the Dominions Fellowship Trust for so many years, is to receive an honorary degree from Oxford University.

Mr. MacQuarrie is at London University on a two year Scholar- ship. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John MacQuarri‘e, Hamtp - ton. Mrs. Mchuarrie was the former Mary Chevarie,‘ daughter" of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Chevar- ie, Water Street. The MacQuar- ties have a young daughter. Mtar. ian Ann. ' a

Miss Mary Robin, who has a great many friends in this pro- vince from her association as director of Women's Institutes. has returned from London, Eng- land, where she was studying. While in England Miss Robin was on the executive of the As- sociated Countrywo-men of the World, a successor to Miss Lena Mcbure, who held this position when she was in England. Miss Robin is now at the University of Saskatchewan on the Research staff.

Mr. and Mrs. John Schiller of Montreal arrived Christmas eve to spend the holidays with Mrs. Schil‘ler's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Boswell, Lealands, Victoria.

Mrs. W. H. MacLeod, 825 Eus- ton street, had an accident in her home breaking her hip. Mrs. MacLeod is a patient ,in the Prince Edward Island Hospital.
