The winters of the past few years robbed. students of a great deal of time on the old natural ice surface. The college faculty felt that the lack of facilities for those desiring to skate or play hockey was something that need- ed immediate attention. The dis- eussion period started in the second semester of last year and less than one year later the new rink is available te the student

The building was purchased from the Atkinson steel Company of Toronto and all parts arrived here marked and ready for erec- tion. This type of rink was one _of several that the Atkinson Steel ‘had to offer and the college au- thorities accepted this one as the Most suitable to the university's Meeds. The rink surface, one of the finest available to college stu- dents in the Maritime provinces, is 190 feet by 8 feet. Three rows of seats, plus a balcony, accomodate some 1300 persons. Sixty-six light fixtures provide almost daylight illimination for the hockey players.

Two large dressing rooms 22 x 15 and 28 x 16 are located in the east end of the ‘new structure. A capteen ami the equipment room are also in this. section of the building. .

The sound system for the new rink has been installed by Audio Specialties of Halifax. ;

Those attending ‘hockey gam- es here will find both players’ benches as well as the penalty timer situated on the north side of the building. The building has three exits, on the east, west and south walls.

Weather conditions hampered outside work in the late ° stages, but County Construction will com- plete everything at the most op- portune moment.
