Conservatives Seen Salvation For Canada

TORONTO (CPl —- Renard Grafftey. Progressive Conserva~ tive member of Parliament for the Quebec riding of Emma Missisquoi. said here it is up to the Conservative party to save Confederation.

Speaking to a meeting of the Toronto York~Rumber Progres- sive Conservative Association. Mr. Grafftey said:

“The Conservative p a r l y which. in a spirit of optimism helped forge our Confederation. ‘ now is called upon to defend the i spirit of Confederation.

“The f e d e r a 1 government must remain strong and this is one of the greatest debates of ourttme.‘

I Mr. Grafftey. who represents a riding that Is about 70 per cent French. said the people of Quebec want to remain in Con. federation.

"I believe. as l have always believed. that the people of the province of Quebec. in the po-l litical sense. want one strong! Canada. Separatists don't dare! to stand for elective office. I They know what the results would be." 3
