Held to a single second-period goal by U. S. goalie Willard Ikola despite a wide margin in play. the Russians broke loose to score three times in barely a minute of third-period play.

The one-sided Russian victory dropped the Americans into third place behind Canada, tied with the Dutchmen on points but striking them on goal average.

A Canadian victory over the Russians would make goal aver- ages the determining factor in de- ciding the championship. The Dutchmen can capture the title by defeating Russia by three goals. provided the Americans do not run up a more decisive margin in their earlier game against Czechoslov akia.
