Tux warehouse of Owen Connolly, Esq., on Connolly’s Wharf, was broken into last night, and a barrel of flour stolen ‘therefrom. It was taken to a schooner near the wharf, and then emptied into a box, which was bauled to the house of Mrs. Peardon at the south end ofthe city. Mrs. Peardon’s son, Ceorge, has been arrested in connection with the robbery.

At Freetown, on Friday night last, a house of bad reputation, inhabited by a widow and her daughter, was raided by some neighbers. The occupants were ordered out, the utensils removed to the top of the snow-bank hard by ; and then two bundles of straw were brought in, and a match lit.

A Trerrisir Loss.—The Gloucester, Mass., schooners ‘* Edith M. Pow,” ‘‘ Paul Revere,”’ and ‘“‘Charles Carroll,” which were fishing on Geerge’s Banks, and the ‘‘ Bessie M. Somes,” on Grand Banks, are missing. It is suppesed they were lost in the great gale of the Sth alt. By the loss of these four veseel 53 men were lost, whe leave 27 widows and 66 fatherless children.

A Lonpon despatch of the Ist inst, says :— The crew on board the ship Red Clowd (re- ported yesterday) belomg to the barque Fanny M., of St, ohn, N. B. (She was commanded by Captain Stockton, and was bound frem Richmond, Va., to Liverpool, laden with oak and poplar, and was 674 tons register; in- urance on vessel about $16,000. The Halifax ** Herald’ says :—There must be some errer in this report, as if would be impossible for the crew of the barque Fanny M., of St. John,to be landed by a sailing ship at London three days after the former had sailed from Richmend, Va. The vessel abandoned is probably the barque Fanny, of P. E. Island, from St. John’s, N. F.
