Fa her Duffy was born in the County | Monaghan, Ireland, in the year 1802, and | was Ordained priest in Maynooth College when about 30 years of age. (He hadtwo brothers also priesis). Shortly after his ordination Le came on missionary work to America, end was tor 17 or 18 years in charge of & mission 300 miles in extent,at St. Mary’s Bey, Newfoundland. The hardships and sacrifices undergone by Father Duffy while located there, nearly 60,years ago, were vividly portrayed by | Rev. Dr. Doyle. From St. Mary’s he went to Nova Scotia, and was stationed at An‘igonish fon, 8 for 9 years, at the end of which time be was transferred to Char- lottetown, in the year 1858. Soon he was given charge <f St. Ann’s, Lot 65, Kelly’s Cross and Kinkora. Having coo» tracted acold on the **cold Christmas.’ 1859, by visiting Kinkora, Kelly’s Cross ; and St. Avn’s, in each of which parishes he celebrated Maer,‘ probably his last Mass in these places, he was removed to Charicttetown, and died at the palace on December 1st, 1860,in the 58th year of his age. Before his saintly spirit fled from the clay which was re-ioterred Suaday morning, he expressed a wish that bis bony should be buried et Kelly’s Crose, whose people almost worshipped him, and whom he naturally Joved in return.

At the conclusion of the finai obsequies at the gaave, the unveiling of the monus ment took place, the ceremony being performed by Biehop McDorald, assisted by the visiting clergy.

The Sacrament of Confirmation was administered at 3 o’clock, p- m., by the Bishop to about 60 children, after which the cemetery was visited by the Bishop and clergy.
