The Tory government in Ontario has shown it has: by no means exhausted the w .methods by which it can pe- nalize the people for the crisis the people had no part in creating. The go- vernment now plans to force mothers out into the work-
' force to do jobs no one else
will do — the dirty jobs; and the penalty for refusing
owill be to forfeit welfare
or U.I.C. No mention is made of course of how these mothers will be capble of paying for daycare. These jobs will be lowhpaying har-
dly enough to pay for dayca-
re with not enough left over to live on. But becau— se they'll be working that
will justify cutting off

The government does not care however, as long as it saves money for more profi— table investment for the fat corporations!
This is but an addition to- an already deplorable state of affairs for the people of this country. In Ontario alone, over 1,000,000 stud-r ents will be out of work this summer adding to the 1,000,000 and who are alr— eady out of work in canada. They cannot, as in the

My brother, Ian, was born with a serious heart condi- tion — he was what is known as a "blue baby". Doctors agreed that he was not stroe ng enough to survive an op- eration. At this time -
. 1959 — research in heart su-
rgery was still in its pion— eer stage.
For tWenty years, Ian li-_
ved a semi-sheltered life, unable to participate in any vigorous activity, and subject to much illness. Several times during this period he was brought throu— gh crises by the expert care of Dr. Hubert O'Hanley.
By the spring of 1974, Ian's condition had greatly deteriorated. Doctors in Toronto advised that surgery was his only hope and refer- red him to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Surgeons there performed the difficult operation of rep- lacing the pulmonary artery and patching a large hole

art. Many units of fresh blood of the patient's type are required to be on hand
before this operation can be attempted. During the surgery, Ian hemorrhaged and the efforts of the surgeons would have ended in failure had an abundant supply of fresh blood not been avail— able. This blood was prov— ided through the American Nationa1_Red Cross Blood Tr- ansfusion Service which has a reciprocal agreement with the Canadian Red Cross So— ciety.
-Today, Ian enjoys good health for the first time

and the satisfaction of full—time employment.
Our family will always be grateful to the donors who give their blood so that others may live, and to the Red Cross through which this service is made avialable for all who need it.

to stop unnecessary spend— ind. But who is benefiting from this saving? If it
was the people (which they hypocritally maintain), then why is it that the people are_the ones who must suffer by going without jobs, money adequate medical and dental care, etc?
The capitalists and their corporations are not suffer- ing - nor are their servants - the politicians, newspaper editors, etc. ' .
To exemplify this, a quot- ation from "The Canadian Tribune" reveals: "Nowhere in the economy — are the ra- vages of inflation worse, nowhere does the price and profit Spiral snatch away more of working people's earnings through taxes than in reckless government squa- ndering to enrich_the arms monopolies.

Not Satisfied _
'I_am writing this letter as an avid and concerned UPEI hockey fan. I have been to all our home games this year and it depresses and disgusts me to see such talent go to waste. To see us get beat by much weaker teams (i.e. Dal)'it is my feelings and the belief of many people on campus and around town that the cause of this is to a large degree but not fully the fault of the coach. This letter is not meant to be a personal attack on coach Jack Kane h but a way of bringing a pr— oblem to light. For too many years we have missed the playoffs becauSe one thing Was missing.
As an example of his neg- ligence, many times players are left on the ice for over two minutes and as a 'result of fatigue they are drwan into stupid penalties. They you hear one voice abo- ve the rest yelling at this
person for getting a penalty.
To drive my point home I will make a comparison that will show Mr. Kane's coaching imdompetence.

"What better example than,; the outrageous purchase by Canada of 18 U.S. sub-chaser aircraft from the financial— ly and morally bereft Lock— heed Corporation. The 18 Lockheed Orions now on order for Can- ada will cost taxpayers $52,000,000 each! To add insult to robbery, the Cana- dian Government plans to fi— nance the deal for the cor— rupt Lockheed Corporation. And this is all done by a government which claims to represent the interests of the people. It's enough to make a dog puke!

During the second period of the SMU game at the forum while the score was still .close I noticed Jack Kane screaming his foo1 head.offl yelling at his players each time they;made a mistake, even telling them how to li- ne up for a face-off in the -defensive zone (this, after a week of practice.) Not once did coach Kane correct a player's mistake without .yelling at him causing the player embarrassment. A short while later I looked across the ice at SMU, coach Bob-Boucher. I noticed that he was very quiet during the whole game. Whenever his players made a mistake he would go over to them , exp- lain what they did wrong and then pat them on the back.

After reading there prob- lem I would like Kane to stop and think about them and PLEASE try to remedy them for the next season, * for the sake of the players, for us fans and especially .for'your sake. '
