What's OnAt the Panther Lounge

Welcome back folks! Summer has passed us by and the books will be opened for another year at UPEI, but that also means that the Panther Lounge is open again for another year of great pubs and fun times.

The lounge has a brand new staff who are excited and anxious to serve the students here at UPEI. The lounge has lots of events planned for the up coming year and we hope that all the students will help support the Barn because the busier we are, the more great events we can offer everyone on campus.

The fall line up includes Yuk Yuk’s, The Trees (a great band from Halifax), comedian Mike Robinson (who will appear on David Letterman later on this year), Rubber Chicken (a music and comedy extravaganza), rock group Nick Raine, Three Piece Suit, the always popular Bob Lambert and The Scared Weird Little Guys (a comedy show from Australia which must be seen to believed).

The Friday afternoon movie pubs will be returning but witha few new twists. This year movie pubs will be presented by That’s Entertainment. This means that there will be movie coupon giveaways and up-to-date releases. Popcornis still available but this year the lounge has its own machine so the popcorn won’tbe chewy anymore! This week's movie pub features ‘‘ White Men Can’t Jump”’ and ‘‘The Hand That Rocks The Cradle’’.

Monday night will be Saturday Night Live Replay Night (that’s a mouthful). Someone from the lounge (we’re not sure who) has been staying home on Saturday night all summer (Not!) to tape the show so we can play it on Monday night during the winter,

Tuesday is United Distillers golf night. They have provided the lounge with a golf set and from 9 till 11pm you can pay .50 cents (all proceeds go to the Student Union) for three chances to win a complimentary distillers product anda chance at the end of the night to win great T-shirts, shooter glasses, and hats.

Labatt's Jam Night (last year’s big success) will be back on Wednesdays. The Strings will be your hosts for a night of tunes and a few laughs, Ifyou can sing or even if youcan’t, you can get up and play a tune and receive a complimentary Labatt product for your efforts. The Strings start at9:00pm _ and the Jammin usually starts around 10:00. Also watch for the Labatt Spotlight Special on Thursday nights. Unheard of prices until 10:00pm.

With this great lineup we hope everyone on campus will pop down to the Barn and check it out so that this year will bea year to remember!
