It appears that Mr, Gillett weat to his pasture, for che purpose of driving howe a pair of oxen, preparatory to hauling a lot of potatoes which he himself and a younger-brother had com- menced digging. He did not return, but his prolonged absence excited no fears, as it was presumed that be bad gone for something to the residence of his father, about three miles distant. But it was discovered the next worniag that he had not been there, and his brother thereupou proceeded to the pasture and commenced a search for him. Approaching the cattle, he observed the Bull making unusual demonstra- tions of excitement and rage, and was finally driven from the field by the infuriated brute—not, iowever, without owing enough to satisfy him that the missing man had been killed. The neighbours were then got together, and some of them, armed with rifles, entered the enclosure, and finding it im- possible to drive the bull away, finally fired upon him.
