The large hall a+ Lot 65 was packed on Saturday night to hear the public quet= tions of the day discyaced by the Liberal Conservative Candidat:,and other'speakers, Mr. D. W. Henderson occupied the chair and the epeaking took lowing order:

Mr. W. S. Stewart, in an hour’s speech, gave a thorough aed com prehensive re. view of the misdeeds and sboricomings of the present Government and the policy of imperial preferential trade which Sir Charites Tupper is about to accomplish for Canada. He was well received ‘and loud- ly applauded on concluding.

Pr mier Farquharson spoke after Mr Stewart, speaking chiefly on local ques tions, not attempting to meet the ch arges made against the Oictawa Government by the previous speaker.

Mr. P. J. Trainor was the next speaker, and took the meeting by storm by his abie and eloquent speech.

Mr. Trainor was followed by Dr. Doug- lase, who seemed to be al! at sea op Do- minion politics,

Atter Dr. Douglass bad concluded bis remarks the chairman spoke about adjourning the meeting on account of its being Saturday evening. While the mat- ter of a*jouroment was being considered Mr. J. F. Whear, who was not called for by ary one, ascended the platform to speak. Mr. Stewart objected to this, declaring that it was the turn of a Lib- eral-Conservative speaker. Mr, James McLean, of West River, and Mr. Stewart arranged that the latter should make a sbort reply to Dr. Douglase, and tha: then Mr. McLean should epeck on behalf of the Government. But Mr. Whear and Premier Farquharson woald not consent, insisting that Mr. Wnear should speak first, and in cons¢ quence the meeting broke up in confusion.
