Left-handch unite! You have to. It takes at least two of you to equal one right handed person. I speak for the entire right-handed population like “Southpaw” speaks for the left-handed portion of society. We northpaws are also faced with the problems of left‘ handed desks. Have you ever been to Duffy lecture theatre? It is al- most impossible to write on the right hand bench let alone one of the left-handed seats along the aisle. Classrooms are no better. Having sat in a left—handed desk

The mechanics of driving a standard automobile are not easily mastered. However, a left-handed person should have less trouble than a right handed person. The shift is operated by the right hand. The left hand is used to control the steering of the vehicle. The more complex of the two is de- finitely steering. A standard car rarely has power steering, and

absolute control must be main-

tained by the left hand. You have the advantage. Why would you even consider crossing hands? If you feel cheated, get a British car.

God, in His ultimate wisdom, made more people right handed

because He realized it was the better method. It’s not that vnrr

Bearing this in mind consider that since the right hand side of the body is controlled by the left hand side of the brain, and the left hand side of the body is controlled by the right hand side, left handed people are the only ones in their right mind!

Dear Editor:

I.have a peeve about this university. It seems many of the desks have ﬁlthy seats and I am not just talking about grafﬁti! They are literally in ass-sticking shape. It seems that the varnish has deteriorated to such a con- dition that it is impossible to sit in these seats without being glued to them. Seeing as our classrooms are overcrowded, we have no choice other than to sit. in these tacky tulpits! Surely, the univer- sity could afford to replace or revarnish desks at least bi-decadal.

Dear Editor:

I object to the publishing of cigarette advertisements in the student paper. It is a product that

.should not be promoted to be

used. You would do more help to the student body to promote its disuse.

I realize the arguement can be made that the advertisement is a source of much needed income. However, I would hope that the dollar would not become more important than promoting health, not only to the user but to the third parties that must breathe smoke in our public places, as in pubs. ' The idea that the dollar is more important also justiﬁes peeple to deal with South Africa. An articie on Page 3 of the same issue dealt with that issue. It appeared to me that the Netted Gem thought the presence of south African goods on campus an issue. This implies that you are in favor of a boycott.

I find this admirable and would appreciate it if you extended your principles to the health of the individuals on campus.

though I smoke, I do not agree with cigarette ads being put in the newspaper. The staff does not care to have this type of advertise- ment either.

The reason the cigarette ad was put in the paper was that we are required to put what ads we

' receiv"e in the paper. If we didn’t

want the ad, we could have sent a letter stating that we didn’t want ‘ it. Unfortunately we didn’t do this. The next time, though, we shall do our best to stop these types of ads from being sent to us.
