Somewhere we havé heard that the loudest sound ever heard was from a volcanic eruption some- where in the South Pacific in the latter part of the 19th century. We have also been told that the largest sound ever in Canada was from the Halifax Explosion in 1917. We are ready to concede that both of these probably exceded the caca— phony raised during last week's game between Mount Allison/Panthers basketball teams in our gymnasium but certainly Gordon MacAll- ister's "Noise Night"shat— wred our ears and nerves m the limit &, despite.

for an interval & we led- 38—37 at the recess. In the second half our boys came out flying & led, at one time,by 16. The Hawks, it must be admitted,did not concede defeat easily & closed the gap to 3 with only a minute to go. A, steal & layup by Tom Hib— bert in the final seconds gave us the assurance we needed and the game ended 86—78 with us "Good Guys" on top. The 8 point margin is important as we last in Sackville by 4 and the margin will give us the playoff preference in case of a tie in the final standings. Art Laffin was high with 22. Tom Kappos had 14 & Bronx Feighrey 12. At the time of writing this we know, without de- tails that the Panthers topped U.N.B.in Fredricton 90—85 last night. Next and last game of the schedule will be here next Sunday afternoon at 3:00 against

Tuesday we watched the Pantherettes vanquish the Mountie girls by a 74-29 score...now that is the kind of game we enjoy!

In Fredricton on Sat— urday afternoon, in a game of which we have no part- iculars, the girls showed
sup very well in a 65-49
loss to the highly rated U.N.B. team. Their next and final game will be in the gym next Sunday at 1:00 when they take on the St. F.X. girls.
’ At the beginning of this year we said we thought this to be the best hockey team thaf U.P.E.I. ever had...but we just never did seem to jell. We still think it has a terrific potential and we hope that the team will stay intact as only one, George Mattews, will graduate.
In Tuesday night's game in Sackville against second place Mount Allison, the game was over before we rea— ly got started and Mount A. led 4-0 after but 15 minutes.
We managed to hold them even after that and the game ended 6—2. Our goal scorers were Doug MacLean and Joe Fillie Pony. In Saturday night's game in Antigonish we appeared to be getting a- way to a fast start when Joe Philopone scored in the fir— st minute but after that X, driving for a second place finish, took over and won

other goal. As has happened in so many games we outshot our opponents by a wide mar— gin...this time 45—29! Yes— terday afternoon we played our final "Away" game and put up a real good struggle against the number two team in the nation, Saint Mary's. It was 1-1 after the first,' 5-5 after two and we event- ually lost 846 in the final Score. Goal scorers were Lennie Kelly with three and singles went to Dave Murna— ghan, Gerry McCarron, and Joe Phylipyne...no matter how you spell it, the kid is hot and might be dubbed "go-
