THE WANDERER’S RETURN.

When tossed upon the swelling deep. What power protec a, what hand sustains. Father ! but thine. awake. in sleep. ' When tsmpests rage.or evil reigns ?

When wandering 'midst thy wond'rous ways, Where nature sheds her benn'ies round,

Of flowers and froiis, end healthful maize, And the rich products of the ground.

When rushing rivers ho'd their course. Thro' mountains pass. and meadows green. And seek the ocean's tumult hoarse, ,O'er troubled wave,where sea-birds scream.

“'hen mighty lakes their water spreads, Our heart's devotion pure to raise. When lofty mountains rear their hI-ada, Mid clouds that on their summits crowned,

“'hi-n towering steeples point the way. Our heart‘s devotion pure to raise.

And cherfal Village peasants stray Midst fields ofgrain, and cattie graze.

What power but thine. 0 Father ! lends The observing eye, the noting mind,

That all these varied hounties blends. And bring an otI'sring frotn mankind.

Sn hutnbly cast beneath thy feet. And with our thanks acceptance ask, Trusting our feeble powers may meet 'l‘hy favour in our grateful task.

We praise thy name for mercies sent, For blessings rich on as conferred.

And may our souls in sweet content. Repose our trust in thy pure word.
