The question "why is Christian belief in God 'n'initarian in char- acter?" may be answered by ref- erence to the difference between Old and New Testaments. It is a difference the more remarkable in view of all that the two Testa- ments have in common in their teaching about God.

But in what it has to say -and that is very much - about the Christ of God and about the Spirit of God, the New Testament goes beyond the limits of Old Testament belief. The reader of the New Tes- tament is at these points, in re- spect of his thoughts about God.
