Few men are capable of such graphic descrip- tion as the rev, gentleman, and ail left the church using the scriptural phrase—it was good for us to be there.”

The congregation in the evening was very much lateer than the morning, an? the audience was Captivated ao tue speaker dealt in a chaste, argumentative yet prac- tical way with the character of Judas and the other Disciples around the table at the institution of the Lord’s Supper. He pointed out the terrible tendency of un- checked and unrestrained propensities to evil. While we may receive hereditarily a disposition to some evil, yet this sould be checked und heid back by education and self-restra'nt. Nothing but the grace of God can help us, but this can give’ us victory over our evil passions and dis- positions. Some appear to come into this world with angelic dispositions, while others have a powder magazine of dis positions and desires which only need the match of opportunity to set it aflame. He would warn young men present to watch themselves and seek the assistance of God to help and stay them in this present evil world and amid the numerous temptatious in life. ,

The sermon was iJustrated by incidents in hisown observation and experiences, and was @ masterly and convincing effort. It is almost unfair to attempt to say any- thing of such sermons unless reported in full, and at the same time such a speech must be heard to be fally appreciated.

It will be a treat to hear him to-night in his lecture in the same church.
