Last Friday, an enraged bull, purchased at Margate by pavtiesin St. John, caused a lively excitement at Kensington for a while. The animal was putinthe R. R. cattle pen; but, not liking bis confinement, he gave vent to his displeasure by killing two sheep, and still continued his work of demolition. In order to prevent the crazy animals from break- ing loose among the crowd, some of those present got a pointed iron bar and punched his eyes out, and fina'ly he was shot dead The apival was afterwards dressed up and taken across by the steamer on Monday.-- Pioneer.

Tue great bridge connecting the cities of New York and Brooklyn is at length c m- pleted. This immense structure has been sixteen years iv building, and has cost $15,- 000,000. It is 1,595 feet long between the towers, 3,560 feet between the anchorages, and 5,989 fvet from one end to the other. The two towers are each 274 feet bigh, which leaves a clearance of 135 feet under the bridge at the centre, and the width of the structure ig 85 feet; the outsides are used for carriage- ways, in the centre are two tracks for steam- ears, over which is the walk for foot pas- sengers, who will not be required to pay any toll.

A curious story of th just come to light. When he was Prime Minister of Kuglaud he cffered the Lord High Commissione rsbip to the General Assembly <f the Church of Scotland to a certain peer, who in reply wrote four long pages setting forth numerous reasons against his acceptance, but in the last two or three lines declaring his willingness to take the office. Lord Derby was notoriously indolent. He oxly took the trouble to read the first two pages of the letter, and, concluding from them that his correspon- dent wished to decline the honor, at once offered the Commissionership to another man, who immediately accepted it. Of course the first candidate was furious, and also dreadfully bewildered, but both he and Lord Derby died without finding out how the mistake occurred ——— ;

Much produce yet remains on hand and the steamer will be loaded down every trip for some: time. The schooner “S. G.
