‘The funeral services were held in the Church of the Holy Redeemer, Bar Harbor. on Friday morning. Doc. 0th. The church was filled with fricnds and relatives includ- ing many outside the parish. The funeral party which gathered at the home of Mr. Milclsaac wag a large one. The flowers included set pieces of roses or carnations or other beautiful blooms fiom the various church organizations, from the nurseries and others.

Rov. Edward Fitzpatrick. the pastor, gave an impressive funer- al sermon. The pallbearers were:

Mrs. Murphy ill-s the mother of five children ofwhom besides hcr husband‘ the following survive. John F. who faithfully and dutifully at- tended hia moths . Mrs. Leonard Duffy (who also found time to comfort and help her mother) and Nollie in U. States; one daughter Mrs. Joseph Smith and son J. Michael pro-deceased her.

Her funeral took place Friday morning, January 13th to St. Mal- achafs Church, Kinkora, where a Requiem Mass was sung by her pastor, Rev. M. J. Smith after which her remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

The pallbearers were: Patrick McCarvoll, John’ Mathleson, John Mnhm", Peter A. McMahon, Michael Clark and John Kelly.

We oiTcr the condolence cf the community and the sympathy oi! frlendsand relatives who could not be present at her funeral owing to bad roads, to Mr. Murphy and fam- ily in the loss of their good wife and mother. To spend over fifty years in one community is an ev- ‘cnt in our? timesr and when that ‘periodof time is devoted to good work it is-a memorythat should not be forgotten, because, unless those early Catholics were valiant and true our boast of half a century Gathoiiclty would be a. con- fession of early beginnings, but little fro-operation to keep faith in God and His Church alive. If one were to single out some details in Mrs. Murphy's life, it would be her simplicity.‘ That simplicity was ex- hibited by her trust in God, in her disregard of the best things pf life, in hcr devotion to home and her religion, ‘and in her love for the green. glittering hills of Ireland, be- cause hcr own Irish sires in spite of ruck torture, sccurging, fire and sword nevcr lct the flames of St. Patrick's shim die out. Let 11S then earnestly pray that Christ may have mercy upon her poor soul.

Little had lived to the advanced age of eighty-two years and had resided in. Clcrmont, P. E. 1., in his younger days.
