Dear Editor,

What is going on? I think the issue of sexism is getting out of hand. Where do the feminists get off making statements about the state of the planet if women ranit. They are not only sexist in the ex- treme, but they also discredit the feminists making them. (If feminists are trying to rid the world of sexism, then why do they perpetuate it with such commentary?) These statements are probably also false. ‘‘Powercorrupts, Absolute power corrupts absolutely’’. It doesn’t matter whether there is a man or a woman in the seat of power.

Now the university isintroducing ‘‘Affirmative Action’’ which simply polarizes the issue in the opposite direction. We need a group of people, with : equal numbers of men and women who do the hiring. |

We need an impartial judge and nota stacked deck.

The X-Press, has become the arena for an unending shouting match between the feminists, and the male chauvinist pigs (for lack ofa better term). The men however are just as much to blame as the women. I’m justas sick and tired of reading about how the women malign the men and how the men malign the women. They are acting like two rival children, constantly bickering, to no useful end. I just wish they had parents to shut them up and get them to get along.

[ don’treally hope that this letter will accomplish anything, Ill just pick up the next issue of the X- Press and the same people will be making the same statements about the same things and nothing will have changed. Oh well, what really can I do?

Dear Editor, | ne I would like to take this opportunity to respond to the two recent commentaries in your newspaper pertainin to the staff of the popular nightclub in Ch’ town, Myrons. I feel that it is my responsibility to shed some light on the recent events that took place. Thes: articles were written purely as opinions of people with extremely narrow minds with obviously no experience inthe “‘bar’’ business. First, if the people involved were responsible drinkers and mature adults who knew how to conduct themselves in a public place, there would be no need for any of the staff to reactin any way excepta courteous way towards them. That should tell any person with the intelli- gence of a tomato that these people obviously don’t deserve to be treated any better than they act them- selves. I am sure that any of these people’s parents would be truly and utterly ashamed at the drunken immature and at times dangerous conduct if their sons/daughters. Apparently some sort of test should be given to these people before being allowed to consume alcohol, as their actions show the exact opposite of how you would expecta “‘mature’’, semi- intelligent human being to actin a public place. Their use of foul language, disrespect for authority, and disrespect for fellow human beings is enough to sicken me. Another point, how come these people feel they have been wronged so badly? Do they not realize that it is a privilege not a right to be admitted into a bar? And that at any point in time whether before or after they are allowed to enter the premises that they are in fact trespassing any time after they are asked to leave. Youcan be charged with trespass- ing, being drunk ina public place as well as uttering threats towards other people mainly staff.

I was truly outraged after reading these onesided, narrow minded comments from people who have absolutely no idea of the feeling a staff member may get after having to babysit upwards of 600 peoplea night, 90 percent of whom have been drinking. Put yourself in that person’s position for a moment; outnumbered by a huge amount of people, any of which may provoke violence towards others at any time, and as anyone knows people who have been drinking are not exactly noted for being calm and level headed. Iam not condemning the 99% of people who enter a bar that are just out fora good time. Lets face it we all like to enjoy ourselves, even staff members. But 1am not condoning the actions of people who display utter disrespect for authority as well as the personal feelings and well being of others.
