Burned $0. Death.

Pinxerte and vicinity was on Tuesday murning shocked by the news of Mr. Wil- lam Chaissen’s terrible death on board the echooner Pursuit. This vessel, of about twenty-four tons, was moored at Pinette Whart, and was sailed by her owner (Capt. Mclunis) and the deceased, who, on Mun- day, was eugaged at making fences on the farm of the Captain. He went on board the vessel late iu the eveniny, and at nine veclock a gentlewan who visited the schooner reports him in the cabin actively engaged weuding his clothing alongside a heavy fire im the cabin stove. It is sup- posed that after completing his work he went asleep in the bunk and the vessel wek fire irom the defective stove. No one in the settlement during the night saw the fire or knew anything of it until morning, when his bones were found ia the debris ot the scheoner by those having business at the wharf.

Mr Chaisson belongs to Rollo Bay. He Was a man of about sixty years of age. He isaves a wife and family of four children to

THs young man nained Fisk, whose hand Was injured by a gua shot wound a tew days ayo, died on Luesday evening at the City Hospital, under the most distressing circumstances. Soon alter his admission tw the Hospital it was observed by the Surgeons in attendance that symptoms of suck-jaw were tureateuing to complicate the young man’s aiready sereus condition. those symptoms gradually became more aud wore wauilest, and svon were followed by convuisions of the most terrible severity. Kverything that couid possibly be done to vbviate the almost certain terwination proved of no avaul. Last evening he sank eihausted, his consciousness being pre- aerved to thvend. His Luody was taken to his bome in Tracadie. We heartily sym- pathise with his bereaved parents.

Sudden Death. _—-—

A young woman tamed Catherine Me- Guigan, formerly vt Hope River, died very auduemy Luvsdsy eveuing, at her residence, Dorchester street. She avtended service at St. Dunstan's Cathedral, and returning home abvut eight o'clock, was seized with cramps, She retired to a room and sum- woned soine members of the household, who, on arrival, found her very ill, A priest and a doctor were sent fer, but they wad searcely arrived when she expired.

Another Sudden Death.

On Monday last, Mr. Benjamin Reobin- sou, of Crapwud, died very suddenly. He was walking frum one of the fielda in rear oi his heuse when he was seized with convul- sivns and felito the ground. Some mem- bers of the household hurried to his asaist- aves, but he died a few moments after their arrival. Mr. Robinson was one oi Lie Must respectable farmers in the vicinity ot Crapaud, and deservedly respected by all who knew him.

It is feared the British steamer Bueentaur, which passed the Liz- ard bound westward on the 6th inst., eol- lided with the sehooner Alicea, of Aberyst. A medicine chest so marked was picked up and landed at Scilly.

The war in Tunis, which appeared to be almost terminated by the occupation of the Kroumir stronghold at Sidi Abdullah Ben d’Jemel, threatens to be eovsiderably and unexpectedly prolonged. According to a special received by the “ Figaro,” the Bey instigated, presumably by Maccio, and stung to exasperation by iuvasion of his territory, sent a letter to the Oside, de nouncing the French as traitors, aud en- couraging them to resist their advanee. In bis letter he asserts that Turkey is backed by Germany, and Italy is prepared tw sup- pert Tunis. The evnsequence of this epistolary folly may eventually be no less agreeable to Mahomed El Sadok than to the French.

ukase will apply to 3,700,000 peasants, who will be relieved of a consideravle pertion of their annual payments on account of land, while all secumulated arrears will be re- mitted. All proprietors who have not yet arranged to sell holdings to peasants will be compelled te do so by 1883.
